How to Walk Your Talk When Opportunities Show Up

Are you an effective advertisement for yourself? We will focus on ways to reach your goals faster and with greater certainty by applying self-advocacy skills to your job search. In this workshop you will view promotional approaches that create bursts of energy, bring uniqueness to your job search, and prompt urgency to action. We will emphasize broadening your preparation beyond resume and cover letter. You will see applications of mass communication theory, visual promotion, and persuasive technique along with ways to target your message and engage your audience. We will include research to learn trends that affect the job market, as well as basics in researching companies. We will cover pointers from advertising and promotion, all of which have roles in capturing attention and impressing hiring managers. We will also show options to empower your self-advocacy using sound bites, elevator speeches, conversation starters, and walking career formats. As always, we will adapt our discussions to the priorities and interests of participants. Please bring questions, ideas, and tips to share.
