Learn how your body works in a safe, affirming space
This workshop offers a supportive, inclusive space to learn about the menstrual cycle, hormonal changes, and how to track symptoms for greater body awareness and self-advocacy. Participants will also review how to perform a breast self-exam and gain tools to confidently navigate conversations about reproductive health with care providers.
Kayla Faye Hurd (they/she) is a passionate health educator and medical activist who makes learning about your body empowering and eye opening. With 6 years of experience teaching in clinics, classrooms, and community clinics, Kayla leads trauma-informed, gender-inclusive conversations that help people gain tools to recognize patterns, understand their experiences, and feel confident advocating for their health across various learning environments.
As a proud recipient of the Hellen Carroll Award for LGBTQ+ Advocacy, Kayla has been recognized for their work building safer, more affirming spaces for queer and trans youth. They've partnered with institutions like UC Berkeley, Stanford Medical School, and the City of Berkeley to develop inclusive education programs rooted in body literacy, reproductive justice, and emotional intelligence.
