Learn Effective Resume Building Skills from Marilyn Tullius
The mindset of most in your audience is “What can you do for me?” Your readers have a job to do! They will be swayed by your relevance to meeting their need, as well as by your skills and qualifications, your potential to add value, and clues indicating you will fulfill the expectations of the position and the team. Our discussion will include the importance of building relevance into your resume and extrapolating the employer’s needs from the job posting, then echoing similar achievements in your bullet points. Engaging your reader thrives on including ways you have met challenges and submersed to deeper levels than just producing results. Among novel choices in presenting your talent, creativity, and resourcefulness: How about IRL street language? Story techniques, such as character portrayal, suspense, plot twists, and (surprise!) interjecting emotions? In addition to our theme, we will encourage attendees to ask questions, share dilemmas of job searching, and offer tips to help others.
