About Mimi, the Little Umbrella by Jeff Narvis & Aditi Raychoudhury
In a very busy town, on a very busy street, was a very busy umbrella store with lots of fancy umbrellas. At the very back of which lives Mimi. So plain is she that nobody even notices her. But.. shhhh… Mimi has a secret, which makes her special… very special indeed.?? Is she forever relegated to the back of the store ? Or will she ever see the light of day? What is her secret?
This story is ultimately a timely and timeless reminder to find joy in things in the simplest of things even when the world seems dark and stormy!
About Aditi Raychoudhury
I am an architect and sustainable building designer and analyst by training. But, I could never quite outgrow my love of picture books. I grew up in a small town in India where, I spent most of my very hot afternoons roaming the hills around my house and delighting in the smells and tastes of grass, trees, fruits and flowers. This naturally made me curious about the synergetic underpinnings of nature and taking care of it, which, I aimed to fulfil through a focus on science in school. I was also enamored with its irreplaceable beauty, and I satisfied my creative cravings through drawing and painting. By the time for college rolled around, I decided to combine my two loves and ended up getting a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, and an M.S. in Sustainable Building Design. This non-traditional background coupled with my freeform Indian childhood, gives me the ability to bring a unique perspective and distinctive but variable style that is best suited for the purpose and background of the story.
