Author Aida Salazar discusses her book Jovita Wore Pants, for Women's History Month. Ages 5-9
For Women's History Month, award-winning author Aida Salazar visits Tarea Hall Pittman South Branch. Her Caldecott Honor winning book, Jovita Wore Pants is the true story of Jovita Valdovinos. As a young girl, Jovita hated the big skirts her abuela made her wear, and would rather ride horses and feel the wind in her face. She grew to a brave young woman and freedom fighter who dressed as a man in order to fight in the Cristero Revolution.
Join us for a multi-layered presentation including music, an interactive read-aloud, and time to ask the author questions about her books. Ages 5-9
