Today’s headlines are full of stories of our friends, neighbors, and valued community members being kidnapped off the street or from their homes and placed in indefinite detention without due process–U.S. citizens and non-citizens alike.
As part of the reception for the "Topaz Stories: What Is an American?" exhibit at Central, survivors and descendants of Topaz, a U.S. concentration camp in Utah for Japanese Americans during WWII, will share their family stories of forced removal and mass detention. They will participate in a panel discussion about their family’s experiences in detention, how those experiences impacted subsequent lives and generations, and give their perspective on the question of “What is an American?”
Join us on the 5th floor from 1-3pm on Saturday, February 13th for this program:
- 1-2pm: Exhibit reception
- 2-3pm: Panel conversation
Light refreshments will be provided.
