Brandon Shimoda is the author of several books of poetry and prose, including The Afterlife Is Letting Go (on the memory/forgetting of Japanese American incarceration) and The Grave on the Wall (an ancestral memoir), both published by City Lights, San Francisco. He is also the co-editor, with Brynn Saito, of The Gate of Memory: Poems by Descendants of Nikkei Incarceration (published by Haymarket Books). He currently teaches creative writing and Asian American literature at Colorado College.
