Clearly Meant presents Jan Steckel. Jan will read her poetry then sit for an interview with host Glenn Ingersoll.
Jan Steckel is an Oakland poet, bi, disabled and Jewish. Her book The Horizontal Poet won a 2012 Lambda Literary Award for poetry. Like Flesh Covers Bone won two Rainbow Awards. Among her other books are the fiction chapbook Mixing Tracks and poetry chapbook The Underwater Hospital. Her collection of short stories, Ghosts and Oceans, was published by Zeitgeist Press in 2023. Thaisa Frank describes Jan's work this way: "Both the lush musicality and startling imagination invite the reader to travel in tilted and surprising worlds."
