You are invited to a Death Café experience where people, often strangers are invited to a special Death Café event featuring presentations and discussion about end-of-life choices.
This September's gathering differs from our traditional Death Café format. Instead of open conversation, Sarah Hill, a Bay Area end-of-life doula, will share how she helps individuals and their constellation of care navigate end-of-life transitions. Q&A follows the presentations.
Traditional Death Cafés bring people together to discuss death in an open, unstructured way. The objective is "to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives." Our regular gatherings are peer discussion groups with conversation starters, not professionally facilitated grief support or counseling sessions.
*The Death Cafe model was developed by Jon Underwood and Sue Barsky Reid, based on the ideas of Bernard Crettaz.
