Here, We Speak _____: A Writing Workshop on Language, Identity, and Belonging
We are celebrating Black History Month and Lunar New Year this February and both of these celebrations allows us to reflect on race, culture and exploring Black and Asian solidarity.
Poet Wendy M. Thompson will read poems about her Chinese heritage as well as discuss James Baldwin's essay 'If Black English Isn't a Language, Then Tell Me, What Is?'.
Participants will be led through writing exercises that will draw and discuss the parallels between language, race, belonging, and otherness
This workshop will encourage participants to write about their relationship to language, identity, and voice.
Please join us for an evening of active expression and learning.
