Come see Bay Area artist Donté Clark read from his latest work WE CRY FREEDOM
THP South will be a hosting an author reading and Q&A with Donté Clark. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event through F&M Publishing.
Donté Clark - Donté Clark, also known as DONBLAK, is a poet, actor, and filmmaker from Richmond, California. His work explores the vulnerability of Black
masculinity in the face of systemic racism, white supremacy, and hyper-violence amongst black youth. A co-founder of RAW Talent (RichmondArtists with Talent), Donté’s artistic achievements include the co-written play Té’s Harmony, being featured in a film titled Kicks, and co-starring in two seasons of The North Pole show, a political comedy about gentrification in Oakland, California. Following the release of his poetry collections,KNOWFREEDOM, Close Caskets, and Psalms, Donté secured a poetic residency at John A. Davis Juvenile Hall in Martinez, CA through his work with the ArtsCCC Contra Costa art agency. As a 2023-24 Yerba BuenaCenter for the Arts grant recipient, Donté created We Cry Freedom, a poetry collection, and the poetic short film Blú Honey.
