Repulsive Reads is a book club celebrating all things grim, grotesque, unsettling, macabre, and weird in fiction. Every last Thursday of the month.
This month, we won't be reading a book. Instead, we invite everyone to join us on the North Branch lawn for a scary story share-out. Inspired by the summer Japanese game Hyakumonogatari Kaidankai (lit. "A Gathering of One Hundred Supernatural Tales"), we will meet on the lawn of North Branch to tell paranormal stories, ghost stories, weird stories, and more. Gather around the (flameless) campfire and bring your favorite repulsive short story/anecdote to share! Beat the heat of summer with bone chilling stories. Please keep the stories to a few minutes long and feel free to join even if you don't want to share anything.
Chairs will be provided. Wheelchair accessible. Request sign language interpreter, real-time captioning, materials in large print, braille, or other accommodations by calling 510-981-6195 (Library) or the 510-981-6347 (City of Berkeley TDD line). Please refrain from scented products during public programs.
